Sri Lanka’s para athletes brought honour and fame to the country by clinching two gold medals on the third day of the ongoing fourth Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday.
In an outstanding performance, Pradeep Somasiri clinched a gold medal in the men’s 1500m (T46) event. He displayed exceptional speed and endurance, setting a new games record with a remarkable time of 4 minutes and 5.14 seconds. This victory marks Sri Lanka’s second gold medal of the event, a moment of great pride for the nation.
On the same day, Nuwan Indika further contributed to the medals tally by winning a gold medal in the Men’s 100m (T44) event. He completed the race in an impressive time of 11.63 seconds, which was also a new Asian Para Games record.
These incredible achievements highlight the talent and dedication of Sri Lanka’s athletes at the fourth Asian Para Games, which is being held from October 22 to 28.
