The Sri Lankan Embassy in Jordan participated in the 59th Annual Diplomatic Bazaar, held at the Al Hussein Youth City on October 7. This event was organized under the patronage of Princess Basma Bint Talal with the aim of assisting the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Orphanage, which was established in 1958 by the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf.

The Sri Lankan Embassy set up two stalls to display Sri Lanka’s unique cultural identity through handicrafts, coconut products, batik, rush and reed products, Ceylon Tea, and Sri Lanka cuisine.

One of the highlights of the event was the vibrant dance performances by the Sri Lankan employees in Mas Al Safi Apparel Manufacturing LLC in Jordan. The performances included Sri Lankan classical dance and aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.

Princess Basma accompanied by ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions toured the bazaar which featured a wide array of handicraft products and traditional dishes from many parts of the world.

While visiting the Sri Lankan stalls, the Princess expressed her appreciation to the mission for participating in the bazaar and expressed admiration of Sri Lankan traditional products.

Sri Lankan stalls attracted many Jordanian and foreign visitors. There was a high demand for Ceylon Tea, coconut products and spices.

Around 40 diplomatic missions based in Amman took part in the bazaar.
