Under the supervision of the National Building Research Institute, only the two left lanes on the Southern Expressway from Colombo towards Hambantota re-opened for traffic in both directions from 6 pm yesterday. The two right side lanes will be closed for further vehicular traffic until further notice.
Sections of the Southern highway between Pinnaduwa and Imaduwa which was closed to vehicular traffic due to a landslide occurred at 101.3km of the road section between Pinnaduwa and Imaduwa on the Southern Expressway. After cleaning the section under the supervision of NBRI, only the two left lanes on the Southern expressway from Colombo towards Hambantota will be re-opened for traffic in both directions. However,the two right lanes will be closed further for traffic.
