Accordingly, the latest announcement issued yesterday (29) by the Department indicates that there may be occasional rain or thundershowers in Western,  Sabaragamuwa, South and North- Western provinces as well as Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

In some areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts, heavy rains above 50 mm are also expected and a few showers may occur in the Northern Province and Anuradhapura district, it said.

There will be strong winds around 40-45 per kilometer at times, in the western slopes of the Central Hills and in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota Districts.

The Department said that rain or thundershowers may occur in a few places in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night. People are also requested to take necessary measures to reduce dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thunderstorms.

In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall has been reported from the Guruluwana area of Ratnapura. It was 152.4 millimeters. The National Building Research Organization’s senior geologist Wasantha Senadheera stated that due to the continuing bad weather conditions, landslide warnings that had been issued for the identified Divisional Secretariats of seven districts will remain valid further.

Landslide warnings were issued for Galle, Hambantota, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara and Ratnapura districts.

Hi! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
