Everyone who works in the business organisations would like to see greener pastures in their lives. However most of the times it is not realised due to the fact that they do not initiate with their plans.

They wait for the perfect time, perfect start, perfect opportunity, perfect finance, perfect company, perfect superior and so on. Hence the time is wasted in daydreaming.

Aiming for a perfect start is something like waiting for the waves to cease in order to go on fishing. Instead start where you are, with what you have with what you can with wholeheartedly. Make hay while the Sun shines. Strike while the iron is hot.

Progression is the order of the day.

The Important and detrimental aspect to keep in mind is keep moving and moving forward. God designed our legs in such a way to move forward.

Sales and Marketing Professionals in the present era face many challenges in this ever changing business world. I am glad to penning down my thoughts and advice to equip themselves to meet the challenges successfully and seize the opportunities that may arise from those challenges. This article aims at developing Future leaders who could bring glory to their organisations and our Motherland.

In my humble opinion the pre requisite to be a successful, dynamic, effective and efficient sales and marketing professionals is to be courageous and excellent communicator. If you can communicate well, you can lead.

I have learnt that the “True leadership is a fire in the mind…..It is a strength of purpose and belief in a cause that reaches out to others, touches their hearts, and makes them eager to follow”.

A “L-E-A-D-E-R”, has to Lead by examples, Enthustiastic, Achiever, Decisive, Encourage team members and Ready to learn and Teach. In order to carry out these functions he or she needs to a effective communicator.

BECOME EFFECTIVE LEADERS:

Effective leaders typically possess varied traits, and no single leader can have a complete set of characteristics that is appropriate for handling any problem, challenge, or opportunity that comes along.

A leader has to be bold, Charismatic, self confident, Team Player, Caring and Sharing, Empathetic, Transparent in dealings and Manage time wisely and considerate to his or her fellow members. Some are born leaders and others are made as leaders.

As sales and marketing professionals you should focus on the following Core values to be a successful and effective leader.

They are Education, Excellence, Learning, Community, Integrity, Individuality, Diversity, Compassion, Self reflection, Responsibility, Resilience, Respect, Obedience, Happy, Ambitious, Tolerant, Honesty and Perseverence.

Do not wait for happiness to come to you, rather you should create happiness on your own. How is it possible ?

In my humble opinion and experience, when you make others happy by helping them, your happiness and joy doubles with time.

TIME MANAGEMENT:

Time Management is vital and detrimental for your success and future. Never say that you do not have sufficient time. Let me prove that you have sufficient time.

We may expect that on an average one could live up to minimum of 70-75 years. If you are 15 years of old, then you have 1,892,160,000 seconds of time ahead of you. ( 75-15=60years × 365 days × 24 hours × 60 minutes × 60 seconds).

Now tell me whether you have sufficient time or not. My other question is what are you going to do during that time period. I strongly recommend you to have a “Vision and Mission statement” for your life.

Your company directors and mentors could guide you for to have such statement. Ask yourself the following questions right now; where am I in life now?

Where do I want to go in life? How do I get there? What time period should I take to reach that particular position? What resources do I need? Who could help me?What are the contingency plans?What will I do after reaching that desired position?

You should have a vibrant plan coupled with goals and objectives. Most importantly “planning is vital for your success”. “Plans are nothing and Planning is everything”.

OVERCOME STRESS:

You may have to face the problems such as Stress, anxiety and depression.

You have to overcome your limitations and failures. Thus, Stress too has to be overcome.

People today talk about managing stress. Lectures, Seminars and workshops are conducted on stress management. Little stress is not that bad for you.Rather it will propel you to act.Too much of it is not good for your mind and body.

Do not focus on skills that you do not possess and focus on your abilities,capabilities and acuminate your knowledge and skills.

Then you too could become a leader. Seek the support of your mentor to be guided and advised during tough times. Changes are inevitable in your life. Do not resist change. Accept changes and embrace it. If you do not see any changes then create the changes. Change is not equivalent to Pain. It is equivalent to Growth and prosperity. In order to be no.1 you need to be creative and innovative. As a leader you should create, implement, evaluate and manage changes.

POLICY FOR SALES AND MARKETING CAREERS:

Sales and Marketing Managers, Executives, representatives and Officers should adhere to the following policy in their careers; “Going for the extra mile”. In other words always doing more than what is expected from you by your organisation.

But the majority have a , “ thus far, no further Attitude like “it is not my job”, “this is adequate”, “why should I do this”, “why should I do more”, “I am not paid well, so let me work for what I get”. These are the attitudes that limit the growth of an employee, organisation, society and country at large.

Majority of them always ask or even fight to get a raise in their salaries and other fringe benefits.As Sales and Marketing Professionals you should not do that rather you should strive for excellence in fulfilling your duties and do more than what is expected from you.let me share what I have done throughout my career for the benefit of you.

Help your management by Involving in trouble shooting.

You need to do all the above voluntarily and as additional services in recognition of the salary and other benefits that has been offered by your company to you throughout even during crises including the pandemic besides retaining your services as a employee.

When you do the above as a routine practice you could reap the harvest of getting double salary, double bonuses, company car, unlimited fuel allowances, foreign travel, rewards, recognition financial assistance to follow your Professional courses, housing loans, fame, popularity, job promotions, power, privilege, honour prestige, higher status any many more.

In conclusion, there is no limit on what you could do to your customers, colleagues, management and company. It is all in your genes, upbringing in the family, school, company and society. Words of advise to you; Always do your duty but do not expect immediate results and favours from your organisation. The cardinal rule is,”keep on working ; keep working on the engines”.

You will be rewarded sooner or later by your management if not blessed by the Almighty God. By getting any or all above company benefits, you need to be a humble person.

In turn you have to Always give your 100% to get more than 120% revenue and profits to your company and constantly make sure that both you and your colleagues as well your company march forward in securing future businesses including new businesses and business expansions locally and globally. That should be your ultimate goal and aim.

Hence, Aim for a new end. Plan and do it today! Keep sailing!
