Fadna Tea (Pvt.) Ltd., a pioneer in the Sri Lankan herbal and health related product manufacturing company has entered into several research and development agreements with leading universities.
“A unique feature of this concept is that the management of Fadna Tea is offering three per cent ‘royalty fee’ from each product sold to the universities,” said Fadna Tea Managing Director Chamendra Somatunga.
He said that this partnership has resulted in creating some of ‘world’s first’ products and this combination also provides win win situation for both parties.
Though one of these R&D partnerships we were able to create a product/tablet which helps to eradicate the agony of and increase the lives of cancer patients who were medically ‘written off’.
He said that recently they created a huge impact in the market with the launch of their new product, ‘Diabe Tea-Sabaragamuwa’. This product was developed in collaboration with the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD) and the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Sabaragamuwa University.
This product uses 100% natural ingredients to maximise its benefits for patients suffering with blood sugar-related disorders.
Somatunga said: “Innovation associated with problem solving is vital for the development of societies and countries. Commercializing products that are born out of this innovativeness not only opens up new avenues for people, especially those suffering from blood sugar-related disorders, to adopt healthier lifestyles, but also supports the local economy.”
