Senior Journalist, former Deputy Features Editor of Lankadeepa Ashoka Jayatunga has been appointed Media head of the Sri Lankan embassy in Washington DC. An old boy of Mahinda College, Galle, Jayathunga held many positions in the paper. He has written a series of articles such as Saduda Hamuwa, Rajaveediya, Irida Lankadeepa Thiren Pitupasa, main political column and interviews with leading personalities in the political arena. He moderated the political dialogue in the Rupavahini in the 1990s and One to One programme on ITN.
The Sri Lankan embassy in US is presently representing Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago too. The President has also assigned him with the task of overseeing the media affairs of the Sri Lankan mission in the United Nations in New York.
