Police information revealed that when drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne alias Harak Kata grabbed the firearm of a Sub-Inspector of the Police Special Task Force and tried to escape, the security camera system inside the Criminal Investigation Department building complex was inactive.
Investigations have shown that the escape plan of Harak Kata has been carried out with a good understanding of the entire plot.
The investigative teams believe that the missing PC, who has been identified as being involved in the Harak Kata escape plot, will be arrested soon. A senior Police officer said that it is believed that Harak Kata and this Constable had a plan to escape to another country by boarding a boat and after arresting the Constable; all these plans will be revealed.
