Francis Warnakulasooriya, former Deputy Principal (sports), Prefect of Games and Master-in-charge (Rugby Football) of Maliyadeva College Kurunegala passed away, after a brief illness Yesterday. He was 74 years at the time of his demise. Francis, who is no stranger to sports circles in Kurunegala, was instrumental in the development of the game in the area.
As the Pothuhera Group Correspondent for Lake House newspapers, he contributed articles about various fields for ‘Daily News’ and sister paper ‘Dinamina’ for many years and his main forte was sports. He leaves his wife D.M. Muthunayake, daughter Ganga, two son’s Thusitha and Chanaka.
His remains lie at Municipal Council Funeral Parlour, Kurunegala and the funeral will take place today at the General Cemetery Kurunegala at 5 P.M. (V.S)
