Sri Lanka win by seven wickets and win the series!

Sri Lanka women’s cricket team made history last night as they recorded their first ever T-20 series win against England. 

On Saturday the 2nd of September, the Sri Lanka Women’s team reached a milestone after clinching their first T-20 win against England and levelling the 3 match series. 

Building on their success, the women’s team put on another remarkable performance last night. They won the 3rd T-20 and recorded a historic first-ever series victory over England in the final match of the series in Derby.

Sri Lanka’s charismatic captain Chamari Athapaththu led from the front once again to guide her team to victory. 

Batting first, England Women’s team were bowled it in 19 overs, with no significant contribution from either player in the England camp. For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu claimed 3 wickets for 21 runs while Udeshika Prabodhani and Kavisha Dilhari bagging 2 wickets each. 

The Lankans made easy work of their target of 117, as they won the tie with 3 overs to spare losing only 3 wickets. Chamari Athapaththu was the chief destroyer once more with a brilliant knock of 44 runs from 28 balls, a knock which included 5 fours and 2 sixers.

Chamari Athapaththu named as the Player of the match and the Player of the series because of charismatic performances.
