For the first time in history, students from Akkaraipattu Educational Zone took part in the under-18 Asia Pacific Youth Beach Junior Tchoukball Championship-2023 held at Kaohsiung in Taiwan recently.
Schools students from 16 countries took part at the competition. Sri Lanka was ranked fifth and qualified to compete internationally.
The winners and their coach Haneefa Sabeer Ali from Akkaraipattu Muslim Maha Vidyalaya (National School) received a warm welcome on their return to Addalaichenai and Akkaraipattu and were taken around the town in a motorcade and were congratulated and felicitated by Al-Naja Sports Club, Addalaichenai.
Nine students from schools in the Akkaraipattu Educational Zone have been selected to the Sri Lanka National Tchoukball pool -2023.
Akkaraipattu As-Siraj Maha Vidyalaya (National School)-03, Muslim Madhya Maha Vidyalaya (National School) -02, Addalaichenai Central College (National School)-02, Akkaraipattu Munawwara Junior College-01 and Addalaichenai Arafa Vidyalaya -01.
Out of these nine students, seven students represented the Sri Lanka National Tchoukball team at Asia Pacific Youth Beach Junior Tchoukball Championship-2023 held in Taiwan.
