Jordan Johnson who stroked fine knock of 105 in 79 balls plays a shot

Jordan Johnson hit a sparkling knock of 105 in 79 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes as the West Indies Under 19 team recorded a superb 195-run win over the Sri Lanka Under 19 in their second ODI played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket stadium yesterday.

West Indies Youth team produced a dominant batting display to set a challenging total of 320 for 8 wickets in 50 overs while Sri Lanka Under 19 were bowled out for 125 in 30.5 overs in an unexpected barring display at Dambulla. West Indian left-hander Jordan Johnson was leading the way with a fabulous 105. Jordan received good support from Joshua Dorne who hit 56 in 73 balls with 6 fours and Tharrique Edward (53 in 36 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes).

Sri Lanka Under 19 skipper Sineth Jayawardena finished with tidy figures of 4 for 36 off his 7-over spell but Jayawardena failed to make an impact once again as an opener and lost his wicket for 4 runs off four balls which affected Sri Lanka Under 19 side to fall short in run chase.

The Sri Lanka Youth team did not get off to the ideal start as they struggled on 40 for 6 wickets at one stage after 13.3 overs. Leg-spin all-rounder Malsha Tharupathi who batted at number 8 scored 51 in 35 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes but others failed to produce consistent worthwhile knocks to reach their target. West Indies levelled the three-match series 1-1 series with one game to spare.

The paceman Deshawn James 3 for 30 and Isai Thorne 3 for 18 took bowling honours for the West Indies Under 19 side.

The deciding third and final ODI game between the two teams will be played tomorrow (September 1) at the same venue.
