Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) is an institution which is closely intertwined with the production economy of the country, said Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr Bandula Gunawardhana yesterday.

He was of the view that the SLRC has succeeded in developing a dialogue with the people with regard to the fluctuations in the production economy of the country. The Minister was speaking at a press conference held at the Media Ministry at the launch of the Industry Sri Lanka programme by Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation together with the Industrial Development Board (IDB) to promote entrepreneurs.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Chairman Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe and Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board Chairman Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma and the sponsorship agreement was signed by Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Chairman Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe and the Chief Business Officer of Sanasa Life Insurance Company Kennedy Michael.

Commercial Bank also participated in this event as a bank partner.

The Minister further stated, “President Ranil Wickremesinghe is giving the necessary support to take the local industries to the international market. Foreign investors should participate in the industries of this country.”

“We have to be more generous and should change our attitudes to get their support. There are many businessmen who bring foreign exchange to the country. The media should give them a hand and encourage them,” he said.

He added that the Government is to promote the local industrialists with new technology and update them to an export-oriented manufacturing economy based on the local mechanism.

This programme is implemented by the Rupavahini and Industrial Development Board with an aim of promoting and encouraging local industrialists.
