Four Sri Lankan bodybuilders have set off for Beirut, Lebanon, to participate in the prestigious Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship scheduled to unfold from August 25 to 27.
The quartet, comprising Minula Silva (Junior Category), Subhash Dhanushka (Senior Category), Range Silva (Physique Category), and Chamara Dias (Masters Category), embarked on their journey from the island nation on Wednesday night.
The forthcoming three-day championship is poised to attract participants from 48 Asian countries, with heavyweights such as Iran and Iraq dominating the event due to their roster of world-renowned professional bodybuilders.
The coveted title up for grabs in this grueling competition promises not only glory but also a ticket to the realm of professional bodybuilding supremacy. The victor will earn the distinguished status of a Professional Bodybuilder, entitling them to compete in various professional bodybuilding tournaments worldwide.
Each of the four Sri Lankan bodybuilders is primed to compete in a specific category that showcases their unique strengths and physiques. Team captain Ranga Silva will flex his muscles in both the Men’s Physique and Men’s Classic Bodybuilding divisions. Meanwhile, Subhash Dhanushka is set to challenge himself in the Men’s Physique category for individuals up to
173cm in height, as well as the Men’s Classic Physique events restricted to those below 171cm and 171cm height thresholds in the Men’s Classic Bodybuilding category.
Minula Silva, on the other hand, will lock horns in the Junior Men’s Under-23 segment, vying for success in Junior Bodybuilding, Junior Physique, and Junior Classic Bodybuilding contests.
Lastly, Suneth Chamara will represent his nation in the Masters division for individuals up to 50
years of age, competing in the Masters Bodybuilding event.
