Galle Prison inmates’ deaths; Magistrate summons JMOs

Regarding the sudden deaths of the two inmates in Galle Prisons, the Galle Chief Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara ordered yesterday (23) to issue summons to the Judicial Medical Officers  who conducted the post-mortems, to appear in Court on September 18.

The inmates who had died due to some unknown illness have been identified as Ahmed Mahir Mohamed Mansuk (23) of Moragoda, Galle and Dikkumbura Nanayakkarawasam Gode Liyange Ruwan (31) of Induranwila, Ahangama.

Ahmed Mahir Mohamed Mansuk on August 13 and Dikkumbura Nanayakkarawasam Gode Liyange Ruwan had died on August 20. Their post mortems are said to have been done by Prof. U.C.P.Perera of the Karapitiya Medical Faculty and Judicial Medical Officer Samadhi Dandeniya who had given an open decision leaving a verdict to be pronounced later. Upon the Police of Galle producing facts to Courts, the Magistrate had given the said order.

Police Sergeant Samaranayake (25312) of the Miscellaneous Complaints of Galle Police presented facts in Court.
