Alumex inks MoU with DTET to usher new era of technical training

Alumex PLC, a subsidiary of Hayleys and a trailblazing aluminium manufacturer in Sri Lanka, has inked an MoU with the Department of Technical Education & Training (DTET), to create opportunities for the youth, by equipping them with the expertise to be certified as world-class, skilled fabrication craftsmen.

To address the industry’s ever-evolving challenges, Alumex PLC and DTET will establish a model Training Centre at the Maradana Technical College and look to extend this effort across key cities, establishing multiple world-class training facilitiesin the island.

This ground-breaking initiative will empower students with a fully updated curriculum and cutting-edge fabrication techniques, to elevate the industry’s fabrication standards. By bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on applications, Alumex and DTET are priming the next generation of fabricators for success in the modern landscape.

The Department of Technical Education and Training acknowledged that the partnership with Alumex PLC will help enhance skills within the fabrication sector and help elevate industry standards. DTET looks forward to expanding their training centres across the island and are confident that by equipping the youth with the training and knowledge they need and providing them with a chance to strengthen the workforce as valuable contributors to the nation’s economic growth.

Alumex PLC Managing Director Pramuk Dediwala said’ “At Alumex, we are committed to supporting the development of the aluminium fabrication industry. Through this comprehensive training programme, we will not only equip the younger generation of fabricators with the right technical knowledge, skills, and tools to thrive, but will instil within them the spirit of innovation.”
