The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) yesterday arrested two persons who had embezzled more than Rs.10 million from several foreign employment aspirants by promising lucrative jobs in South Korea.
They are investigating to arrest another suspect in connection with the racket.
This racket was unearthed due to complaints submitted by more than 25 persons who got scammed where foreign employment aspirants are being recruited for jobs in the textile industry in South Korea and Rs.375,000 is charged from a person for those jobs.
The recruitment tests were to be held yesterday (10) at the Department of Government Factories in Kolonnawa and the investigation officers who swung into action, raided the place. More than 30 aspirants had participated in it.
The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court today (11).
SLBFE Special Investigation Division officers Sarath Wimalaweera, Ravindra Abeypala, Indunil Pushpakumara, Nalaka Mamalgaha and Madhushan Wijewardena joined this raid.
