United National Party General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said that if Mihintale’s electricity bill drama script had been written a little more intelligently, it would have even won awards at the State Drama Festival.

He said, as soon as the Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya said that the electricity has been disconnected, the spectators knew that the next scene in the drama will be actor Sajith Premadasa coming forward and paying the bill.

He said that everything had happened as the spectators expected.

The UNP General Secretary said that in a good drama the ‘intrigue’ factor was very important where spectators will be curious about what is going to happen next.

“But in this ‘Mihintale Lights’ drama there was no such intrigue and everything happened as spectators expected and the main actor Sajith Premadasa, as well as the supporting actor, took the flak as usual.”

The UNP General Secretary further stated that he respectfully requests not to use the great Mihintale, considered as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, in petty political dramas.
