Air Asia – Abu Dhabi to fly low cost carrier to BIA

Air Asia – Abu Dhabi (Air Asia Abu Dhabi) has been commissioned by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka to begin a scheduled low-cost flight service between the Katunayake Airport and Abu Dhabi Airport in the United Arab Emirates. The foreign air operator certificate was awarded to the airline company at Katunayake on Thursday(3).

For this flight operation to be successful, high attention has been given to the organisational structure and program of the airline to maintain the safety, security and efficient flight operations of the passengers and for that special attention on the physical resources, proper training, qualifications and experience of the airline have been given.

The Civil Aviation Inspectors of the Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority’s Aircraft Ground Operations Division had focused their attention on the technical and physical ability to provide the staff, equipment and other services required for flight operations. This airline company is going to start its flight operations from the middle of September.

Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority Director General and CEO P.A.Jayakantha, Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority Deputy Director General (Aviation Safety and Regulations) Saman Gunawardena and Chief Operating Officer of Air Asia Abu Dhabi were present at this event held at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority, Katunayake. The Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Chatura Kolambage and the Sri Lanka representative and commercial manager of the airline, Shibin Naseem, were present at the occasion.
