The Laufer Chess Club emerged victorious in the Sri Lanka National Team Super League Chess Championships, organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, held at Sports Ministry Pavilion in Torrington from July 28 to August 1.
Competing in a highly competitive nine-round round-robin format, Laufer Chess Club remained unbeaten throughout the championship, conceding only one draw in the entire tournament. Their outstanding performance led them to secure an impressive score of 17 match points, crowning them as the undisputed champions of the event.
The Fischer Chess Club claimed the first runners-up position with a commendable tally of 12 match points. Meanwhile, the Super Knights Chess Club exhibited their fighting spirit and secured the second runners-up position with a score of 11 match points.
In recognition of their exceptional skills and efforts, the triumphants awarded a cash prize of nearly Rs 600,000/-, in addition to receiving well-deserved medals, certificates, and coveted trophies.
