The Methodist Church’s Deaf Link project has been performing a commendable task in implementing the ‘Community-based Inclusive Development for Aging with Dignity’ programme in the Anuradhapura district, Anuradhapura District Health Services Director Dr. N.C.D. Ariyaratne said.

He said so at the seventh healthcare services clinic conducted at Anuradhapura Puliyankulama Uththara Saliya Sri Dalada Temple premises, organized by Deaf Link.

The Christian Blind Mission financed by Federal Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development of Germany has launched a four-year healthcare improvement and livelihood empowerment programme in the Anuradhapura Nuwaragam Palatha (Central) DS Division through Deaf Link. Under this programme, it is expected to organize 20 medical clinics in the division to benefit needy elderly persons.

Dr. Ariyaratne lauded the services of Deaf Link for this project. At the Saliyapura elders’ healthcare medical camp, 200 needy elders received medical check-ups such as blood tests, eye tests, ECG tests, and counselling for awareness on ageing and well-being.
