Colombo Rowing Club clinch Deepam Trophy

Sri Lanka’s Colombo Rowing Club (CRC) showcased their dominance in the waters yet again as their men’s team clinched a remarkable back-to-back victory at the Deepam Trophy during the 82nd Madras-Colombo Regatta. The annual event, held in the scenic waters of Chennai’s Madras Boat Club in India, concluded on Saturday at Boat Club Road in Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai.

In a display of exceptional rowing prowess, the CRC oarsmen competed fiercely in eight races for the prestigious Deepam Trophy. Their relentless efforts paid off as they emerged victorious in an impressive six events, including the esteemed Boat Race, amassing a total of 45 points. The CRC men’s team left no room for doubt as they demonstrated their superiority on the water, leaving India’s Madras Boat Club (MBC) men’s team trailing with 30 points. Not to be outdone, the Madras Boat Club (MBC) women’s team exhibited their own excellence in rowing, participating in four races during the regatta.

Their skillful performance secured victory in two races, including the crucial Boat Race, culminating in a successful defense of the Adyar Trophy for the consecutive year.
