The Sri Lankan domestic worker was seen crying on Thursday (27) over the demise of her Israeli employer’s daughter during her visit to the country. The deceased is a 70-year-old horse-rider named Ismadar Zolski.
Moragahahena Police say that an elderly Israeli woman who was staying at a hotel in Talagala, Moragahahena, had died in her sleep.It has been revealed during police investigations that the deceased woman visited Sri Lanka occasionally and that she had stayed at this hotel in the same area as the woman who has gone from Sri Lanka to do domestic work at her mother’s house.
Police said that the maid had come to Sri Lanka for a holiday on the 22nd of last month and the deceased woman had arrived in Sri Lanka on the 14th of this month and stayed in room number two of the hotel, only during the night.
The maid had come to the hotel day before yesterday morning (27) at about 9 am to see the deceased woman and knocked on the number two hotel room door, where the deceased
had been staying, but there had been no response, so she had informed the owner of the hotel, according to the police. Accordingly, the hotel owner had come with some employees and looked in through the window of the room and seen the foreign woman sleeping on the bed and as there was no response, he had broken the lock on the window and entered the room and the maid had spoken in Israeli to the woman on the bed, but there had been no response. A police officer said that it had been concluded that the woman was dead, after a doctor had been called to check.
After facts were reported to the court regarding the death, the Horana Acting Magistrate Nalin Imbulgoda, had come to the scene of the incident, conducted an investigation, and arranged to send the dead body in the mortuary of the Horana Base Hospital. The magistrate had ordered the police to get a post-mortem examination done and to submit the report stating the cause of death to the court.
Sub-Inspector Hemal Weerasinghe, and Woman Police Constable (6921) of the PanaduraDivision Crime Investigation Laboratory, Sarojani had arrived and carried out investigations.
