Zahira College, Colombo team
Zahira College, Colombo will meet Kinniya Central College, Trincomalee in the final of the Samaposha Boys under 14 All Island Football Championship 2023 to be played on the 30th of July at the Race Course ground, Colombo- 07, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Football Association, commencing at 4 pm , after the Girls All Island final.
Zahira College, Colombo pocketing the third place from the Colombo district, was selected to play in the All Island football Championship, which was held at the Municipal Council ground, Dambulla on the 22nd, 23rd and the 24th of July 2023.
In the group stage, they beat Maris Stella College by 2 goals to nil, drew with Al Fahiriya National School nil all and lost to Kinniya Central College, Trincomalee by 3 goals to nil. Qualifying from the group stage to the pre quarter, they won against Zahira College, Matale on penalties ( 2/1 ) and Al Baduriya MV, Kegalle 2 goals to nil. In the semi final, they beat Maliyadeva Model School on penalties (4/3), after the match ended in a thrilling draw and now they will encounter Kinniya Central College, Trincomalee in the final for the decider of the Samaposha Football under 14 Champions for the year 2023.
Principal of Zahira College, Colombo, Trizvily Marikkar, a Sports loving person, who has a keen interest in developing Sports in this School under his leadership, these young lads have showcased their talents to hold the name of Zahira College, Colombo football on high, enterinrg the final of the under 14 Samaposha all Island championship for the year 2023. Arun Prasath, who is the Master in Charge of football, is a person really committed to the game and wants to see these young lads future, along with Coaches, M.A. Fazal, A.M.. Uzman and Zaheer guided these young lads to enter the final.
