Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala will meet Vileyaya MV, Polonnaruwa in the final of the Samaposha Girls under 14 All Island Football Championship 2023 to be played on the 30th of July at the Race Course ground, Colombo- 07, commencing at 3 pm.
At the qualifying round games to the final, Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala won against Ave Maria Convent, Bolawalana by 5 goals to nil, Siddhartha Vidyalaya, Balapitiya by 6 goals to nil, Kirindiwela MMV by 2 goals to nil, Thalkiriyagama MV by 2 goals to nil, and Mahajana College, Jaffna on penalties (2/0), which was played on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of July at the Municipal Council ground, Dambulla.

Principal of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala, Nirodha Abewikrama has made a significant move to start football for these young lasses and they have showcased their talents as one of the best girls football teams in the all island.
MIC, W.A.W.A. Weerakkody is doing a yeoman service to the School and the game, encouraging these young lasses, keeping her busy home front aside, also the support coming from the Teacher in charge Nadeera Mahanama, who was with the girls at the matches, was a tower of strength to these young lasses.
