Malaysia’s High Commissioner for Sri Lanka, Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Sumangala Dias met the Chief of Defence Forces, General Affendi bin Buang on 20 July 2023 at the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. During the meeting, the High Commissioner recalled the previous interactions both had in a number of military forums in Malaysia and Overseas. Further the High Commissioner highlighted the importance of Defence Cooperation particularly in the area of training with Malaysia. He also offered some training courses in Sri Lanka that could be considered by Malaysian Defence Forces.
On the request of the High Commissioner, the Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia agreed to accommodate the “Overseas Study Tour” by Defence Services Staff College students of Sri Lanka to Malaysia in September 2023.
