The Provincial Councils and the Local Government Ministry has decided to immediately confirm the 10,000 employees who have not been confirmed in the Local Government institutions.
Provincial Councils and Local Government State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura said employees working on a casual and contract basis in Local Government institutions will absorbed as permanent employees soon.
As there are currently 12,000 vacancies in Local Government bodies, measures have been taken to provide permanent appointments for those vacancies and the approval of the Ministers for this programme is to be obtained soon.
