Kandy school srugby In the Dialog inter schools league rugby powered by Dialog Axiata PLC, in the division 1 segment “A” round one week seven games, on July 28 St. Anthony’s College who beat Kingswood College in the last outing will scrum down with S. Thomas’ College at Bogambara Stadium,which is going to be an interesting game and both schools are sure of playing good rugby. The July 29 Saturday Trinity College who beat Royal College last Saturday will be In Maradana to play Zahira College. Both schools are good in the game and a good game can be expected. On the same day Vidyartha College will travel down to Colombo to play St. Peter’s College at Bambalapitiya. On 30th Sunday Kingwood College will play Wesley College at Bogambara Stadium,and Dharmaraja College will take on Science College at Mt. Lavinia. So, all Kandy schools are going all out to make it good.
Sri Sumangala promoted
Wariyapola Sri Sumangala College ruggerites who did well in the lower division this season have been promoted to “A” division in the coming year. It is great of the ruggerites of this school to keep Kandy proud. This time they did well in the matches played win or lose they gave their best and sure to come up in the game in the future. Wariyapola Sri Sumangala College has a long history over 130 years.
The school originated under the name of St. Paul’s College as a junior school of Trinity College Kandy. At present they are doing well in the game of rugby. Like all other schools, they receive a lot of support from their Old Boys Rugby wing. What they lack is a proper playing field. Once,they emerged as the Shield champions at the Inter-Schools Under-20 Division Two Sevens Tournament under the coaching of Lal Wijesiri.
The main goal ofthe ‘Summa’ Rugby Integration is to promote and develop the skills among the rugby players. Their mission is to produce elite rugby players whilst contributing to the development of self-reliance andresilience within themselves.
