Pakistan ‘A’ in 60 run win over Sri Lanka

Omair Yousuf scored a superb knock of 88 while right arm medium paceman Arshad Iqbal had fine figures of 5 for 47 as Pakistan ‘A’ recorded a 60 run win over Sri Lanka ‘A’ in the semi final of the ACC men’s Emerging Asia Cup cricket tournament played at P.Sara Oval yesterday.

It was fine team.effort by young Pakistan side while they made challenging total of 322 all out in 50 overs. Sri Lanka ‘A’ chasing a target of 323 runs managed to get 262 all out in 45.4 overs and Pakistan ‘A’ celebrated this win to enter the final which will be held on July 23 (Sunday at R.Premadasa International cricket stadium under light.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ opener Avishka Fernando made 97 in 85 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes while all rounder Sahan Arachchige hit 97 in 109 balls with 12 fours and a six but that was not enough to reach the target. In fact both Avishka and Sahan made a good effort missing their centuries by three runs but none of the other batters Minod Bhanuka, Skipper Dunith Wellalage, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, all rounder Chamika Karunaratne and Dushan Hemantha couldn’t perform at this important game to enter the final.

The paceman Arshad Iqbal was the chief wrecker claiming five wickets haul while Mubasir Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem took two wickets each . Earlier Omair Yousuf hit 88 in 79 balls with 10 fours and six while skipper Mohommad Haris hit 52 in 43 balls in 5 balls and Mubasir Khan 42 in 45 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes made useful contributions to build up

Pakistan A total .Lahiru Samarakoon ,Promod Madushan two paceman and all rounder Chamika Karunaratne took two wickets each but Pakistan A players passed the 300 run mark to put big pressure for Sri Lanka A team . Pakistan ‘A ‘will meet winner of Bangladesh’ A ‘and India A semi final in the final on Sunday
