Five people who were in a car that disobeyed Police orders while coming back after digging

for a treasure in Bibile were arrested after a investigation done by the Mawathagama Police and the Kurunegala Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau.

A group of Mawathagama Police officers from the traffic division were stationed near the Mawathagama National School during last Tuesday (18) night, and were engaged in a traffic inspection. At that time, the officers signaled the suspected car to stop, but it continued to drive at high speed. There the Police officers chased the car and stopped it in Mawathagama city. At that time, four people in the car fled, and only one person was staying in the car. The investigation revealed that he was the driver of the vehicle and at that time he was drunk. The 44-year-old suspect, who was a resident of Dambadeniya Bangalawattha, was arrested by the police for drunk driving. Then the car was inspected by the Police officers and found four swords, nine electric detonators used for explosions, one gelatin stick, three drill machines, 01 kg and 300 grams of ammonia and some mining equipment.
