IGP C.D. Wickramaratne who was appointed as a new member to the National Sports Council received his letter from Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe yesterday at the Sports Ministry Board room. Sports Ministry Secretary K. Maheshan, Sports Director General Dr Shemal Fernando and Senior DIG Jagath Fonseka who is Sports corruption and investigation unit chief official also in the picture. IGP’ s new appointment is valid for three years according to sports low. With this appointment National Sports Council headed by Arjuna Ranatunga has 15 members.
The sports Minister also discussed with IGP Wickramaratne regarding the sports corruptions and its investigation part. Minister has ordered to strengthen the investigation unit to solve the sport corruptions and the responsibility is given to IGP to make good investigation unit for these issues. Sports Ministry Secretary and Sports Director General Dr Shemal were also present.
