Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara will open the World Korea Lanka Academy (WKL Academy) in Makola, Kiribathgoda, today, an institution which will teach the Korean language and provide job-oriented training to Sri Lankan students who wish to study in Korea and those seeking jobs in Korea.
Prof. Sung-Jin Kim who spearheads the programmes at the academy said that the institution will be a platform to further enhance ties between Sri Lanka and South Korea and one which will open job and educational opportunities in Korea for Sri Lankans. According to Prof. Kim, the programmes at the institution include E7, E8 Visa Korean language courses, E-9 Visa Skill Test course, EPS-TOPIK classes, Korean language and culture course, Korean cookery course, Korean business course, SAEMEUL course, solar energy, drones and ICT, Meta Verse, and cyber platform courses among others.
WKL Academy Chairman and CEO Ajith Kumara said the institution will also sign MoUs with several Korean Universities shortly to provide educational opportunities to Lankan students as well as initiate student exchange programmes.
He said the institution has already established contacts with 36 Korean Universities. Further, he said the institution will provide Korean visa consulting, promote tourism between the two countries and establish a Korea business forum to promote trade between both countries.
WKL Academy Training Director Prabath Liyanage meanwhile said the institution will connect with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) for training and awarding of internationally accredited certificates for those undergoing training.
