Sri Lankan Athletes Return Home with Bronze Medals from World Championship Paralympic Athletics Tournament

Two Sri Lankan athletes who recently participated in the World Championship Paralympic Athletics Tournament in France have returned to the Katunayake Airport today (19) after achieving notable success.

The tournament, which took place from 7th to 17th July in Paris, welcomed athletes from across the globe. Dinesh Priyantha, competing in the javelin throw event under the T.46 category, and Samitha Dhulan, competing in the javelin throw event under the T.44 category, both secured bronze medals in their respective events.

Upon their arrival, a special reception was organized at the Katunayake Airport Special Guest Room, where they were greeted by Gamini Kosta, Project Officer of the Ministry of Sports, Deepal Herath, President of the National Paralympic Committee, members of the committee, and officials from the Sri Lanka Army Sports Committee. The warm reception acknowledged their outstanding achievements and celebrated their dedication and hard work.

The success of these athletes on an international stage not only brings honor to themselves but also highlights the talent and potential within Sri Lanka’s paralympic sports community. Their bronze medal victories serve as a testament to their skill, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
