A police motorcycle on which two officers of the traffic unit of the Lunugamwehera Police travelling on traffic duty caught fire yesterday (14) near Unathu Weva Lake due to a technical fault.
A Sergeant and a Constable were travelling on the motorcycle from Ellagala junction towards Ranavarnawa when it caught fire.
When the fire broke out, the two police officers stopped the motorcycle and removed the wires from the burning place and threw sand to put out the fire. The motorcycle was saved without much damage due to this.
The two police officers were not injured in the accident.
