The Horana Headquarters Police say that two women and a man were arrested yesterday afternoon (14) in front of the Horana Magistrate’s Court for breaking into the office of a lawyer and causing damage to persons and property.
Police say that the arrested suspects are a mother and a daughter from the same family.The attack was carried out in front of a large crowd.
A 47-year-old man was admitted to Horana Base Hospital after being hit by a stone in the head. The incident was related to a case against the arrested person who was the then wife of the injured person.The case was summoned before the Horana Magistrate’s Court yesterday (14) and it was adjourned till January 26, 2024.
In 2021, she was accused of assaulting her husband’s right hand with a sharp weapon and causing serious injuries.After the case, as soon as the injured person left the court premises with his 22-year-old daughter and came to the road, the accused’s wife and her paramour assaulted the main victim and his daughter.
When the two of them ran into a nearby office of a lawyer to escape the attack, the suspects threw stones at them. Police say that one stone hit the injured person’s head and the another stone hit the glass of the lawyer’s office. Police sources say that when the suspects were attacking the father and daughter inside the office, police officers and onlookers intervened and reconciled.
The 22-year-old girl’s teeth has also been damaged by the attack of the suspects.The arrested suspect and female suspects are to be produced before the Horana Magistrate’s Court.
