United Arab Emirates Ambassador of Sri Lanka Udaya Indraratne emphasized that the expired passports of the Sri Lankans working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi should be renewed immediately.
Sri Lankan foreign workers are suffering a lot due to expired passports and their families staying in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have also proven to be suffering a lot.
Udaya Indraratne also mentioned that the embassy has received the requests of about 5,000 passports that have already expired.
He points out that Sri Lanka’s Immigration and Emigration Department has been informed about this, but a response has not yet been implemented.
The Ambassador further requested the Immigration and Emigration Department to provide prompt service to these national heroes who contribute to a large amount of foreign exchange to Sri Lanka.
