Under 19 Kalutara District Volleyball Champions, Horana Vidyarathana University College team with officials
Vidyarathana University College, Horana won three victories at the 22nd DSI Supersport School Kalutara District Volleyball Championship organized by the Kalutara Zonal Education Office’s Sport Unit with the financial sponsorship of D.Samson Industries Pvt Ltd. The championship was held on July 8 and 9 at Wadduwa Central NS playground.
Accordingly, Vidyarathana University College won two District Championships (Under 15 and under19) and one Runner -up victory for Under 17 boys, while Horana Royal College was able to win only one championship for Under 19 girls.
Pothupitiya M.V.,a leading mixed school, famous for volleyball who won all the five age category championships (under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19) at the last year’s DSI Supersport Volleyball Championships, was able to win only three Championships this time (Under 11 boys,under 13 boys and under 17 boys and one Runner up for under 17 boys).
Methodist Primary School, Panadura and St. Anthony’s Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura and Don Pedrick M.V. Horana won three Championships for under 11 girls, under 13 girls and under 15 girls respectively while Agamethi Balika M.V, Panadura, another school famous for Volleyball was able to win just a one victory (under-15 girls runner up). All the champion and runner up teams were qualified to compete at the forthcoming Western Province Championship .
Certificates were awarded to the winners and the victorious teams by the chief organizer of the tournaments, Kalutara District Volleyball Federation Chairman and International Volleyball Referee, Kanthasiri Meegamuwage.
