The body of a male was found yesterday (15) in a canal in Aduragala Estate, Ingiriya.
During investigations, the body was identified as Govindam Ratnam alias ‘Thambi Raja’ who resided in the upper part of the estate.
The victim (51) was a father of one and made a living as a labourer in areas outside the estate.
After a resident of the estate reported about the body to the Ingiriya Police yesterday morning, investigations have been started by officers headed by Ingiriya OIC Wasantha Chandralal and Crime Investigation Unit OIC Prasanna Padukka. The postmortem is to be conducted to ascertain if death occurred naturally or whether it was a murder.
