A first year student of the Faculty of Management of Sri Lanka Rajarata University has drowned in a swimming pool located in the Mihintale area premises belonging to the University.
He had gone to the swimming pool around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday with five other students studying in the same faculty.
It has been revealed in the investigations carried out by the Mihintale Police that the student had drowned after getting into the water from the deepest end of the swimming pool.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Murugadas Thilakshana, a resident of Kokavil, Batticaloa.
His body has been sent to the JMO of the Anuradhapura hospital for a post-mortem.
