Sri Lanka cruised to their third successive victory as they defeated Saudi Arabia 3-0 in their ITF World Boys’ Junior Team Tennis Championships, continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.
After having defeated Mongolia and Nepal in their previous two outings, the Sri Lankan Boys’ Team continued to remain unbeaten as they sealed the contest by claiming the two Boys’ Singles and the Doubles tie convincingly.
Methika Wickremasinghe gave the home side an early lead by defeating Haider Mohammed in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 and while Pasindu Rukunayake made it 2-0 by overcoming Ali Mohammed also in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. Sri Lanka then added the finishing touches through the combination of Aahil Kaleel and Methika Wickremasinghe as they defeated the Saudi Arabian pair of Haider Mohammed and Abdulrazak Henabi 6-0, 6-0 to secure their place in the semi-finals.
