The Homagama Pitipana Buddhist and Pali University has started an internal investigation regarding the empty liquor bottles and beer cans found in the University premises. Ven.Professor Neluwe Sumanawansa Thera said that after the related investigation, the university resident review committee will make recommendations regarding any action to be taken.
The Thera said that steps will be taken to commence educational and administrative activities of the Buddhist and Pali University located in Homagama Pitipana, which is currently temporarily closed, and the Cabinet has decided to seek advice from the Mahanayake Thera’s for that.
This stock of bottles, which was on the university grounds, was hidden in a pit prepared for the disposal of garbage and in a gully of a drain system that drains the waste water. About 1,000 bottles of alcohol have been found there.
