Over 5000 swimmers for schools meet

Over 5000 school swimmers are expected to take part at the 47th Sri Lanka Schools Diving and swimming championship conducted by Sri Lanka schools Swimming Association which will be held from December 7 to 11 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool in Colombo.

After lapse of two years (2019) this event will be conducted this time while last time in 2019 Lyceum International school Wattala won the mixed schools championship while overall girls championship was won by Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo and boys overall championship won by St Joseph's Colombo and these school swimmers are likely to shine once again.

Bandula Egodage the Vice President of Nestle Lanka said the most prominent schools Swimming event conducted with Milo support will continue and Swimming Association associated with Milo to get all success. From the junior level to Senior level age group of under 10,12,14,16,18 and under 20 boys and girls events will be conducted in this event while 164 events including 140 singles event and 24 relay events will be conducted and leading school swimmers are expected to take part at this event said President of the Schools Swimming Association President Chandani Udukumbura.

The age group of under 10 and 12 swimmers who will reach the qualifying standard or less timing of the standard will receive certificates while the first eight places of the under 14,16,18,20 will receive certificates and first three places will beawarded medals. The two top awards overall boys and girls championship will be awarded at the awards ceremony which will be held on December 11th evening.

For the schools diving championship 274 boys and 110 girls are expected to take part while 275 boys relay teams and 110 girls relay teams are expected to take part at this event.
