Principal making moonshine arrested

The Principal of a government school in the Mahiyanganaya Education Zone has been arrested by the police for producing illicit liquor (moonshine). Based on a tip-off received to the police emergency hotline 119, the police had conducted a raid and had arrested the suspect along with two bottles of illicit liquor.

Following the arrest, the Provincial Secretary of  Education of Uva, Sandya Ambanwala stated that the principal in question will be suspended and an inquiry will be conducted against him. The Secretary has also ordered the Zonal Director of Education of Mahiyanganaya to conduct an inquiry into the matter and provide her with a report with immediate effect.
