Funds for public servants’ salaries, festival advances for New Year allocated

The Government has allocated monies for the payment of salaries and festival advances to public servants for the New Year.

Rs.97.5 billion has been allocated for the payment of salaries and festival advances to public servants during the New Year, Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Priyantha Ratnayake said yesterday (07).

Rs.92 billion has been allocated for salaries and Rs.5500 million for festival advances.

“Although the pay day of public servants for the month of April falls on the 10th, all public servants will be paid their April salaries today (08) as 10th is a public holiday,” he said.

“The Treasury Operations Department has also allocated Rs.2,500 million to pay pensions to retirees,” he said.

The Treasury Operations Department has also released Rs.5.5 billion required to pay Samurdhi benefits. Steps have been taken to provide festival advances to employees of Government ministries, departments, etc., and steps will be taken in future to provide this allowance to employees of corporations and statutory boards.
