Madya Sameeksha – IV, a scholarly publication by the Sri Lanka Press Council (SLPC), was launched on March 2 at the Department of Government Information with the presence of Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma and Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media Anusha Palpita.

Madya Sameeksha – IV is named as a tribute volume to Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa. The keynote address was made by veteran journalist Nalaka Gunawardene, while the scholarly lecture on the tribute volume was delivered by Dr. Tudor Weerasinghe.

As an honour to Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa, the book was offered to one of his relatives.

The Sri Lanka Press Council has hitherto published 13 scholarly volumes on newspapers and various fields of media. Consequently, current edition Madya Sameeksha – IV is named as ‘the emergence of social media’. Many scholars of social media have contributed articles for this volume, which is the first publication in Sri Lanka on social media.
