Kandy 503/9d; Sahan makes career best knock of 162

Sahan Arachchige made his career best knock of 162 as Kandy scored a massive total of 503 for 9 wickets declared at the second day's play of the National Super League 4-day cricket fixture against Jaffna played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday. When bad light stopped play Jaffna was 13 for no loss.

All-rounder, Sahan Arachchige, hit 23 fours in his 257-ball innings. Also, Arachchige added a superb 154-run sixth-wicket stand with Kasun Vidura who scored 67 with 4 fours to build up their innings for a challenging total. Jaffna paceman Nipun Malinga was the successful bowler with 3 for 68 while Kasun Madushanka and Santhush Gunathilake took two wickets each.

Nipun makes debut century Meanwhile, opener Nipun Dananjaya, produced his debut first-class century by scoring 114 which guided Colombo to reach 381 for 5 wickets at close of the second day's play in their match against Dambulla played at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday. The former National Under-19 skipper Dananjaya, struck 10 fours in his 173-ball innings while Roshen Silva scored 57 with 4 fours and Ashen Bandara remained unbeaten on 85 with 10 fours making useful knocks to build up their innings which already had a 104 lead with five wickets in hand. Earlier, on the first day, Dambulla were all out for 277 in their first innings.
