Assistance of professionals essential to monitor development process -PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the assistance of expert professionals is essential to monitor the development process of the country and that the Government expects the assistance of experts to continue to develop the country future.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a meeting with the new staff of the Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) in Sri Lanka at Temple Trees recently.

"The Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) has 52 trade unions representing 32 professions, including doctors, engineers, lawyers and accountants," OPA President Dulith Perera said. He firther said that they are ready to provide voluntary assistance to the programme being carried out by the Government, together with the Government and relevant ministries.

The Prime Minister while calling on the OPA to work for the country's economic development by joining ministries and relevant ministers appreciated the support extended to the country as professionals.

The Prime Minister also said that the Government would extend its support to the OPA for the country's progress.

Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Chaminda Kularatne, Director General of International Affairs of the Prime Minister Anuradha Herath,Ruchira Gunasekara, Upali Jayawardena, Bandula Pathmasiri, Shantha Senarath, H.P.R.K Rupasinghe and several others were also present.
