Action will be taken to digitize television in the Western Province by the middle of 2023, Mass Media and Information Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told Parliament yesterday (21).
He said this will provided clear television footage in a more cost effective manner.
Minister Alahapperuma pointed out that it has been 42 years since the advent of analogue technology in the world, that digital technology came to Sri Lanka in 2000 and that a project to digitize television was launched in 2014, but it could not be successfully implemented.
The project was restarted last December. Minister Alahapperuma noted that Sri Lanka’s television viewing is expected to be digitized by 2025 with the construction of 16 more escort towers centered on the Lotus Tower. maratne and Anil Silva appeared for the defence.
