Opportunity for young children to name newborn animals

National Zoological Gardens, Dehiwala, Director Sharmila Rajapaksa said that it was decided to give the opportunity to young children to name five animals that were recently born at the zoo.

She added that children under the age of 18 will have the opportunity to name the five animals.

The animals are a hippopotamus, an Arabian oryx, two baby monkeys and a baby donkey. Rajapaksa requested that a suitable name be suggested and sent by December 20 as the naming will take place on Christmas Day.

The proposed name for the baby animal together with the name, age, school and address of the person sending in the name should be stated and sent by SMS to 070 698 8448.
