The Beruwala Base Hospital (BBH) has been converted into a 30–bed fully equipped ICU COVID Centre by the China Fort Mosque Society.
The facility which costs Rs 7.5 million, generated from donations from philanthropists from the area, was started on an initiative taken by Kalutara District Parliamentarian Marjan Faleel.
The Medical Superintendent at the BBH Dr. Avanthi Rupasinghe thanked the China Fort Mosque Society for donating the needed equipment to upgrade the hospital into a facility which can treat COVID patients in the area.
Dr. Rupasinghe appreciated the initiative taken by Marjan Faleel who had collected Rs 7.5 million to purchase the needed medical equipment and furniture required for the new facility.
Faleel thanked the donors who generously contributed to this humanitarian project which would help the patients who need hospitalization within the area.
“We have witnessed a good number of people rushing their seriously infected loved ones all the way from Beruwala to Colombo for advanced COVID treatment. Now the service is at their doorstep,” he added.
